Dining Code: Illuminating
Each year the creative and design scene is eagerly awaiting the choice of color of the year by the Pantone Color Institute with worldwide headquarters in New York. Trend color of the year 2021? ‘Illuminating’- a radiant, fresh yellow!
Illuminating is sparkling with liveliness and conveys joy and warmth. Recognized as a leading source of expertise, the institute’s color approach globally influences graphic design in all sectors of media as well as product and collections’ development in numerous branches like for example fashion or interior. And it is the design of tableware as a part in the interior sector I would like to devote myself to in this article.
Good morning
My day starts sunny – with coffee and breakfast served in and on a tableware vintage collection from Villeroy & Boch in a beautiful white-yellow design, light and elegant. Furthermore I highlight my breakfast table with painted butterflies from porcelain which perfectly match our color theme.
And to make my illuminated design journey a little bit ‘tasty’ I have chosen one of my favorite candies, les macarons, to join us. In my preferred flavors lemon, vanilla and champagne.
Tea, Madame
A walk across a flower meadow means a wonderful inspiration for celebrating teatime. I therefore appropriately enjoy my tea with the dining collection Fleurs Sauvages from Rosenthal.
This finest bone china has been designed with blooming wild flowers, delicate leaves and cool grasses. The accents in Illuminating have been combined with another color of the year 2021, ‘Ultimate Gray’. The rarely surprising choice of the Pantone Color Institute should symbolize solid reliability in these turbulent times.
Sunset mood
The end of the day I love to enjoy with a glass of champagne gladly accompanied by … macarons. To ‘style’ this moment a little bit sophisticated I choose another Villeroy & Boch’s signature tableware, Amazonia. This exotic bone china collection is decorated with lovely butterflies, orchids in fascinating yellow, and plant life all inspired by the Amazon.
And then, leaning back on my chaise lounge with pillows around me all in color variations of illuminating – how pleasant.
