Discreet Class

It is almost a year that the theme of ‘quiet luxury’ began to significantly shape the premium sector. Understatement, aesthetic restraint, puristic minimalism – throughout the months this kind of lifestyle has become an establishment itself. And finding its way into the interior segment, this elevated idea of high-quality basic materials may perfectly match with the concept of sustainability.

The richness of wooden interior

Timelessly wood, as an interior material, has always had something of warm, subtle elegance for me. The design options with are manifold and diversely combinable.

A more familiar get-together: A wooden piece of furniture, maybe in the country house style, in one of my preferred colors, antique white, meets a floor made of untreated oak, pine, fir or larch wood. A harmonious way of sustainable living.

A very extravagant variation which I most recently used to decorate a living room wall was the refinement of this area in the – I may name it – ‘parquet-style’. In precise detail work narrow, short wooden boards were put together in a sophisticated pattern. A precious effect!

The beautiness of stone decorations

Working with stone in the interior business enables to create extraordinary and surprising accents and to give every room an unexpectedly stylish look.

How extremely noble you may design the indoor area of your home in this way I recently realized when I stayed in a chalet in the Austrian mountains.

The archtitect of this property extended stone and wooden elements into the entrance place. The room so impresses with a single wall of natural stones in different tones of grey, combined with wooden window niches. Fascinating!

A beautiful decorative idea from stone I have let be realized in my home myself: a fireplace of bricks, artificially made stones from clay, in grey as well as brown shades.

The fireplace I specially staged with objects from terracotta, a material I have a penchant for and which also derives from clay. A particularly valuable kind of terracotta is the ‘impruneta’ one, named after the place where it comes from, an Italian municipality in Tuscany.

The noblesse of glass objects

Glass and light always form a wonderful connection.

Even if at first glance you might not associate with it the concept of minimalism – deliberately with only one single decoration object from this material which dominates the place, or with several individual crystals design-wise added, means an elevated and elegant methode to make a room silently shine.

The refinement with fabrics and colors

Understatement, sophistication. Just like in the fashion segment, also in the interior sector certain colors and textiles define the final difference of our beloved style ‘quiet luxury’.

One fabric I like to enrich my home with and to let decorate, for example, seating furniture or details of it, is linen. The linen fiber is a plant-based natural fiber, obtained from the stems of the flax plant. The tissues made from it fascinate me because of their structure and haptics.

In a subtle grey-brown, minimalistic chairs from linen with elevated button stitching from Loberon embellish my dining room.

A more decorated armchair, even with this kind of tapestry,  I have chosen as partner for my secretary desk. Whether full or half linen, the fabrics of KA International best suit for such arrangements.

And my favorite quiet colors? All hues of white, grey and brown as well as pastel green and yellow, for perfect interior dreams.
