As an admirer of fine jewelry I especially appreciate the sophisticated jewelry collections of the renowned Italian maison and brand Pomellato as well as of the Viennese jewelry atelier Heldwein.

Pomellato: The Milanese New Precious

Founded in 1967 by Pino Rabolini the house introduced a totally new philosophy of jewelry: visionary prêt-à-porter fashion designs, refined colored stone collections, innovative gold creations.

Always a pioneer Pomellato is still keeping the strong and refined Milanese goldsmithing tradition, today hosting over 100 artisans in the central headquarters in Milan. Using only ethically-mined material, the company also strongly invests in the traceability of its gemstones.

And over the years some of the maison’s masterpieces of real avant-garde style had to become part of my private jewel case!

The prasiolite

To express the true emotion of the jewel, it are the colors and the shapes of the unique gemstones selected and crafted by Pomellato which lend the designs their unmistakable identity.

Due to its attractive coloring the prasiolite, even known as green amethyst quartz, has become a true coveted gemstone. As this quartz is rare in nature, it is mainly made by treatment. The Pomellato’s moss green which is won by leaving the gem to bake in the sun is considered one of the house’s iconic colors.

The smoky quartz

Audacious and unconventional – that means to me this beautiful ring set with smoky quartzes. Every stone a different, tiny sculpture it best transports the true Pomellato design.

This quartz variety was given its name because of the grayish brown smoke like color. In combination with Pomellato’s signature rose gold of 18 carat the jewel represents sophisticated elegance.

Atelier Heldwein: Viennese craftsmanship tradition

Atelier Heldwein was founded in 1902 by Anton Heldwein, giving rise to the story of a true jeweler’s dynasty over the course of more than 100 years. Anton Heldwein not only began to design the house’s own jewelry but also worked closely with renowned artists from the famous Wiener Werkstätte. In 1906 he was awarded the title of a k.u.k (imperial and royal) purveyor to the court, allowed to supply the imperial house as a customer.

Since 1991 the family business is run in the fourth generation. Still a qualified team of goldsmiths, gemologists and engravers creates jewelry pieces always manufactured according to the high standards of the decades-old Viennese craftsmanship tradition and thus representing unique collections in terms of quality and aesthetics. The atelier also often uses historical concepts and designs from the archives of the house and interprets them in a new and modern way.
